Australian visa fees and charges

Visa charges change and depend on the visa, stream, lodgement date, applicant location and family composition. Use the official estimator instead of relying on a copied price table.

Estimate the current application charge

Enter the visa, stream, intended lodgement date, applicant location and number of additional applicants in the Department's estimator.

Application charge

The visa application charge is paid in Australian dollars. Some visas have no charge, while others can include a base charge, additional applicant charges or a second instalment.

Payment surcharge

A surcharge may apply to credit card and PayPal payments. Check the accepted payment methods and surcharge rate at the time of payment.

Other possible costs

Health examinations, police certificates, biometrics, translations, English tests, skills assessments and professional services are separate from the government visa charge.

How the charge date works

The Department states that the cost depends on the date it receives the application. If a price changes between starting and validly lodging an application, the charge applicable when the Department receives it may apply.

The estimator is an estimate and may not include a second instalment or every associated cost. The current pricing table and the visa-specific page provide additional detail.

Visa application charges are generally not refunded simply because an application is refused or withdrawn. The Department publishes limited circumstances in which a refund may be available.

General information only. Always confirm the amount in the official estimator or ImmiAccount before payment. This page does not calculate a charge for an individual application.
